The heraldic animals of Circus Krone
|
 |
The
merry
pachyderms
consist of 4
Indian and 3
African Elefants.
|
 |
Real heavyweights are the older Indians Mala, Bara,
Burma and Dehli with their 3.5 tons of live weight.
The 14 to 16 years old African young stars Aisha, Sandrin and Kenia
have the delicate weight of 2.7 tons and are extremely playful.
Elephant years are human years, as the saying goes.
The leader of the herd, the cow Mohini with her 47 years,
an experienced and matured Lady, had protectively put her
trunk immediately at the beginning upon the three "babies of
the family" and she's also always together with her "kiddies"
in the Paddock.

The same kind of 12 Volts electric fence, as used on pastures, makes it
possible for our elephants to run free at nearly all the time. Only at night,
meanwhile the feeding and the personal hygiene it's necessary to tie them up.

The Paddock-owning allows freedom of movement to our pachyderms.
On the other hand it's costly many times over other owning methods,
because the animals have to be obeyed and it has to be cared for them
all around the clock.
Traditionally, after the arrival at a new guest performance location in a first
class train the elephants are marching from the train station to the circus location:
trunk-to-tail in rapid pedestrian speed. A real little jungle caravan.
Quite a few branches at the wayside are "falling victim of the trunks".
