Tent City - The Circus Tent

The largest, most modern and most expensive circus tent of the present can only be described
in superlatives. Over a million marks was spent for the special production with a diameter of
48 x 64 meters and a dome height of 14 meters. The roof alone consists of 30 parts and covers
3,000 square meters. The total area of the tent approximately equates to the area of a football field.

The construction of the enormous tent allows for the seating of 5.000 spectators. Four 20
meters long steel masts, four steel lattice auxiliary masts, 120 storm and cross beams as
well as 250 iron anchors provide necessary security, even during the most violent of storms.

All tent related photos on this page are from 1999. Current pictures can be accessed here.

Seating for 5.000 spectators
In less than one day, the gigantic tent construction "stands" with seats, manège, show stage,
light and sound controls - ready for performances, officially approved and in top condition.

Within the area of the illumination engineering with Krone, standards have been established.
Approximately 140 securely installed headlights, as well as eight "golden scans" ensure for
the different lighting effects of the individual numbers. Four "searchlights" place artists and
animals into the right light.
UV lamps and pyrotechnic mechanisms additionally provide for colorful elements.

During the summer tour
Hugo Strasser plays in
the Circus Krone tent.
Not live, but on a CD.
The recording took place
in a modern sound studio
and is played back on a
modern sound system,
which replicates the
Big Band sound of the
Circus Krone Orchestra.

Circus Krone endeavors to maintain the romantic elements of the
traditional circus while incorporating new technology and acts, which
have been widely accepted by newer generations of circus aficionados.
