Our Animals - Elephants - ImpressionsElephants Impressions 2004Circus as from the picture book - that is how Circus Krone presents itself during the summer season. The circus is often staged on a grassy patch of land, ringed by an adorned parade fence, decorative wagons, the largest traveling circus tent in the world and the beautiful new stable tents. The site is surrounded by large outdoor enclosure. Thus, visiting the circus is an enjoyable occasion. ![]() Picture from the Circus Krone Program Guide 2005 "Galopprennbahn Groningen" The elephants demonstrated their pleasure during the dedication of the new elephant stable tent at the beginning of the season. ![]() Krone's elephant palace - measures 40 meters x 16,40 meters, roof height of 6,52 meters - supported by eight cross beams, between which the individual tent sections are allocated. Assembly of the tent is a difficult assignment for those involved in the assemblage of this retractable edifice requiring the utmost concentration and accuracy. The gigantic gates allow the individual segments to be opened and allow the eight pachyderms easy access to the neighboring external enclosure. 10 transports alone are now necessary for the transport of the Krone-heraldic animals and their "equipments". There is ample room for Krone's heraldic animals in the new elephants stall. In the ideal situation, the animals can exit the interior and move directly to the exterior enclosure. There is so much room in the new domicile, that the elephants appear small in comparison. Here, the numerous visitors of the Krone Zoo observe and admire the animals. ![]() In the center here also: COLONEL JOE. The largest bull elephant into the world with7 t weight, 3,50 meters tall..1,80 meters long snow-white tusks. Born in Los Angeles 40 years ago as an American citizen of Indian nationality. Now JOE is at the prime of his life. Beside him are the seven Circus Krone "elephant brides " with diminutive weights ranging from 2.7 tons to 3,5 tons. Four Indian and three African pachyderms total 20 tons of unbridled femininity. NATURALLY FREE IN THE ROOMY INTERIOR PADDOCK. ![]() The trunk is raised as if offering a greeting during a safari. Playful Sandrine easily plucks green leaves from the tall trees. Only freshly cut foliage tastes so good. ![]() Bara, Dehli, Burma & CO. in elephant heaven. Fresh grass, aromatic hay and delicious carrots are on today's menu. Left, the new big elephants stable tent, on the right the roomy transporters. ![]() Together they are strong. Here the Indian ladies practice in the inter continental alliance of the gray giants. One can only guess, if the neighboring Africans and Colonel Joe are pleased. ![]() Dehli is exceedingly pleased. Turf is quickly removed with the trunk and scattered about with a mighty exhalation. Too bad, it is not raining. A first-class luxurious mud bath would otherwise be in the offerings. The large elephants would be showered in any case before they go on stage. ![]() The largest bull elephant in the world - Colonel Joe - into the exterior paddock. Well supplied with hay and straw, as it should be. Also on the back of the powerful giant, just to be on the safe side. To his side, the delicate Aisha at a svelte 2.7 tons. ![]() A beautiful back can be attractive too. The large women at a group outing into the exterior enclosure. One important question: Where is Colonel Joe going?
![]() In fall it is time to install the elephant stable heating. After all, the pachyderm ladies and gentlemen like it warm and cozy. ![]() BARA HAS A LAUGH If Bara knew what the "Natural History" of Plinius the Elder says, she would certainly be pleased. In the time of the Romans, it was written: "the elephant, of all animals, is most akin to humans with regards to the level of understanding, It understands the language of its country, takes joy in love and fame, knows - which even in humans is rare - priority, wisdom and honesty, learns assignments, exhibits reverence to the stars and admires sun and moon". continue |
